Swindon men have a new reason to celebrate their 60th birthday.
From April 1 they will qualify for concessionary travel, instead of having to wait until age of 65. There are three options available for permanent residents of Swindon Borough. These are:
Half fare bus pass (single and return fares) on all local buses in, to and from Swindon and Wiltshire, after 9am, Monday to Friday
Tripcard. An annual £40 of free travel on Thamesdown Transport and Stagecoach buses in the borough after 9am, Monday to Friday
A rail voucher that can be exchanged at Swindon railway station for a Senior Railcard, which gives one third off most rail fares.
Coun Keith Small (Lab, Western), the lead member for Transport, said: "This is good news for a considerable number of men.
"I welcome the extension of concessionary fares and, as I qualify, I will be choosing one of the options myself."
