GROUPS and individuals wanting to hire Antrobus House in Amesbury will have to pay higher fees from April.
Chairman of the Lady Antrobus Trust Vernon Smith told the annual Amesbury town meeting last week that there had to be a small increase in charges for hiring either of the two halls available.
From April, the hourly rate goes up by 50p to £9 for local bookings.
Commercial and bookings from outside Amesbury will cost more.
Mr Smith said that, during the year, toilets had been improved and upgraded, with a new toilet for the disabled and baby-changing facilities.
Mr Smith said that, following last year's successful experiment, the hall would remain open when caretakers Paul and Clare Wood were on holiday and holiday relief staff would be brought in.
He said: "The Lady Antrobus Trust is registered with the charity commissioners and I make no apology for reminding the town that it is an autonomous body that is in no way subsidised by council tax payments.
"Local councils do, of course, pay to use it, the same as anyone else."
