SHOPPER Jeanne Whitehorn was delighted to have her handbag returned intact after she left it hanging on a Waitrose shopping trolley.
Mrs Whitehorn, of Bucklebury, near Reading, went to the store before visiting a chiropodist in the town last Wednesday.
On arrival at the chiropodist she realised she had mislaid her bag and telephoned Waitrose, which sent staff out to search the car park without success.
Minutes later, however, the supermarket called to say a woman shopper had handed in the bag after finding it still hanging on the back of the trolley Mrs Whitehorn had used.
Mrs Whitehorn said she had cash, credit and bank cards and personal papers and effects in the bag. "I must admit I never thought I would see it again."
She added: "I come shopping in Marlborough once a month usually and I have always thought it is a lovely town.
"Now after this incident I think even more of the town and I really cannot express enough my thanks to the lady who found it and handed it in."
