I AM not in the habit of complaining but the possible addition of 24 houses on the site at Aldbourne Road, Baydon, combined with the 24 houses being built on the garage site, is too much.

This would add some 100 cars, 200 people with children.

My main concern is the safety of our children. The entrance to the site in Aldbourne Road is dangerous. Children walking to and from the school, and St John's pupils coming back from the bus stop, have little pavement to walk on. How are we going to protect them from so much more traffic?

By agreeing to this large amount of housing the council will ultimately be responsible for putting these children's lives at risk. We all know that more houses are needed but why so far from towns?

This will add to the traffic to and from Swindon, and from Newbury, on small roads which were not built for such traffic. To live in Baydon one needs a car as there is nothing here.

We have never had vandalism in our village and we are proud of it, but by adding so many youngsters in one go, problems will be created.

What about amenities for them? A third more children will need to play somewhere.

I suppose district councillors think Baydon is just a little village without importance but the people who live here have chosen to live here and feel strongly about such things as safety and added traffic.

Property developers are greedy and want to build as many houses as they can and make a lot of money without thinking of the consequences.

We pay high rates here and get nothing for our money as we have no amenities to speak of, but don't let greed destroy our little village and put our children in danger.
