IN an amiable but one-sided friendly, Minety seconds succeeded in completely blowing away their counterparts from Tetbury.
Despite the wet and slippery conditions, the Wiltshire team ran in no fewer than 11 tries without reply, and there were hat-tricks for both number 8 Sean Richards and scrumhalf Duncan Drewett.
It was a good all-round performance by Minety, who played their best rugby against the wind in the first half.
Tetbury competed well and the visitors had to play together and work hard for their four tries. After the interval, the hosts' resolve and tackling began to weaken, and although Minety touched down a further seven tries, they displayed more individualism and less teamwork.
In chronological order, the first-half tries were scored by Duncan Drewett, Sean Richards, stand-off Kenny Wright, and Richards again.
The second half try scorers were James Hazell, Mark Turner, Mike Strong, Drewett, Gerry Smith, Richards and Drewett. Captain Mike Strong kicked two conversions and James Stokes added four more.
With four of their regular forwards due to be absent this Saturday, Minety seconds will be hoping for a big effort from the rest of the squad as they travel away to take on the Supermarine second string.
