A FAIR TRADE banana producer has visited Bradford on Avon to support the town's bid for special Fair Trade status.
To mark Fair Trade fortnight, groups have been promoting the sale of products that give a better deal to those who grow and produce them.
A Fair Trade stall was organised at Bradford market and people met Denise Sutherland, a ban-ana producer from the Grenadines.
Rowena Quantrill, of the Bradford Fair Trade Coalition, said: "The stall was very popular, and if people meet those who benefit, it encourages them to buy the fair trade produce."
Three weeks ago Bradford came a step closer to being recognised as a Fair Trade town after the Town Council said it would back the bid. It will now use fair trade coffee and biscuits for events.
Mrs Quantrill said: "There are five goals you have to meet to become a Fair Trade town, and getting consent from the council is one of them."
