ANOTHER delay by the Environment Agency to today means the cement company La Farge has been burning tyres at standards below those it should be achieving for the past 14 months.
This has been established by a PPC Review, one can deduce.
This suggests the agency has allowed this company to operate for this period of time with little concern for how it is affecting you.
This review should have taken four months. To date it is 18 months with no explanation as to the delay, for those of us who phone them, asking for the reason for the delay. This includes our MP Dr Andrew Murrison.
If you wish to understand some of the issues that concern not only myself but people around the world, visit your library, surgery, dental practice, school or parish council secretary and ask to see a copy of DIRT Copy No 1, printed/published by The Centre for Environmental Protection. It is not enough to bury your heads like the ostrich.
Where communities have not stood up for their health, the EA have rubber stamped applications on past experience. That way, I feel, leads to increased levels of heart and lung dysfunction and increases in cancer.
Why do I claim this? I believe the agency fails to monitor for many carcinogenic compounds that occur when tyres are burnt. I challenge them to prove me wrong; there are many scientists who would back me in a court of law.
