MARCH 14: MAGISTRATES have banned a Trowbridge driver after a bizarre crash near a Westbury cement works.
Peter Morris, 53, of Clarendon Road, was found by police officers sprawled-out next to the wreckage of his Renault Clio on the A350 at Westbury.
Arrested on suspicion of drink-driving Morris was taken to Melksham police station to provide a sample of breath.
His first reading measured 65mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath nearly two-times the drink-drive limit but before officers could take a second sample Morris began vomiting violently.
Rushed to the Royal United Hospital in Bath, Morris had an emergency life-saving operation to remove his spleen.
Morris later admitted a charge of being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle.
