COUNCIL officers are set to take action against a road transport business operating without planning consent.
Bampton Brothers, on Stratton Road, which was used as an equipment yard, has more recently been the base for a road transport business.
Swindon Council enforcement officers visited the site after a complaint from residents about unauthorised use.
They found four tractor units, six trailers and four lorries on site.
This led Bampton Brothers to submit a retrospective planning application for the business.
This was turned down by councillors on the planning committee because of the visual impact of the depot and because of the noise and fumes produced.
They recommended that council officers take enforcement action to ensure the use stops.
