THE life-saving contribution of blood donors was recognised at the launch of a year-long campaign by the National Blood Service.
The Wiltshire launch of the 'A lot to say thank you for' campaign was attended by blood and bone marrow recipient Jacqui Inglis, 27, and Swindon town player Kevin Halliday, 19.
Mrs Inglis, who works at Zurich Financial Services, received numerous blood transfusions and a bone marrow transplant during her battle against leukaemia 10 years ago.
She explained: "I cannot say enough how important the contribution of blood donors is. What they do is so selfless and I would not be around without their help. I am here to support the National Blood Service campaign to recognise the contribution of those who donate."
Also present at yesterday's event was 19-year-old Swindon Town defender Kevin Halliday, who was there to represent his team.
He said: "It is important for people to give blood. It is a life saver and Swindon Town Football Club is behind them all the way."
Blood donors who turned up to the County Ground were offered a free box of chocolates from Belgian Chocolaterie Guylain, which is sponsoring the campaign launch.
If you are aged between 17 and 60, in good health and weigh more than 50kg you can become a donor.
