WHAT is D Smith of the Bramptons talking about? (EA, March 11)
In the first place, the rent for my two-bedroom council house is £56.87, somewhat different from the £45.84 he has dreamed up.
Further, I also have to pay council tax, so I have the same increase as he does.
On the subject of spreading burdens evenly, is he aware that council tenants and only council tenants have to pay the rents of those who do not have the means to pay it themselves?
This is a charge I will gladly share with D Smith and any other private householders who wish to come aboard.
