THE heritage of the Wiltshire hamlet of Tiddleywink has been traced by staff at the Wiltshire and Swindon Record Office.
As previously reported in the Evening Advertiser, the eight-home community recently came to prominence when the county council gave it its own road sign in a bid to discourage motorists from speeding through it.
People living there have also complained about its omission from most maps.
However, records office staff combing the archives have discovered that the hamlet was first given its name between 1871 and 1881, and that 28 people were living there in 1881.
The hamlet is near Chippenham.
