TROWBRIDGE almost caused an upset in the quarter finals of the Wiltshire Senior Cup when they were unlucky to be beaten 1-0 by Screwfix League side Devizes Town.
Trowbridge boss Neil Kirkpatrick said: "The lads are gutted. They played Devizes off the park, we were much the better side but home keeper Warren Jackson and some indifferent finishing cost us the game. Apart from the goal our keeper hardly had to make a save.
"It was a great performance from the side but unfortunately they had nothing to show for it at the whistle. Still that's football, you've got to take your chances."
Trowbridge dominated most of the first half, Jackson saving well from Jack Herd and Dave Percival. After the break Trowbridge continued on top until the 65th minute when the home side made a rare visit into the Trowbridge half and Justin Lyle scored what turned out to be the winning goal.
Jackson again emerged the Devizes hero making some excellent saves from Percival and a last-minute block from Herd.
