MARCH 18: JULIA Drown is still undecided as to her stance over the Iraqi conflict - and as to which side she will support in today's Commons vote on war.

Ms Drown, who represents South Swindon, said: "I know I'm not comfortable with Bush's policies although I'm confident that Blair is trying his best for the UK and the wider world.

"If we go to war then I think it's important to support the people from Swindon who will be on the front line."

"The UN has argued Iraq hasn't kept up with its obligations over the 12-years since the last war but are we going too fast? It's right to think that war isn't good, but doing nothing means thousands of innocent people continuing to be killed in the Iraqi regime."

Yesterday Ms Drown met the Kurdish Northern Iraq Prime Minister, Barham Salih, to discuss the looming conflict.

North Swindon Labour MP and Home Office junior minister, Michael Wills, remained supportive of the Government.

He said: "I just hope we can now support our troops out in the Gulf. I think this will be a just war, although all conflict is unwelcome, because sometimes it is the least bad option.

"We want it to be as short as possible with minimum casualties our thoughts and prayers are with our military personnel, many of whom are from Swindon and Wiltshire."

Last month 122 Labour MPs voted against the Government over plans for an attack on Iraq.

North Wiltshire Conservative MP James Gray said: "I have been hesitant about this all along partly because Mr Blair has not done a very good job of explaining exactly why we are going to war.

"There are some 250,000 troops in the Gulf, many who are from Wiltshire. If we brought them home it would send a terrible message to Saddam.

"We must make sure any war is short and we help reconstruct the country afterwards."
