MINETY'S second-half strength came to the fore as they won the second team battle with Supermarine 22-12.

The visitors trailed to Marine at the break, but came good after it as they outscored their opponents by four tries to two.

Marine got off the mark with an early try which was converted, but Minety got points on the board when outside centre Mark Turner made a break that took him most of the length of the field.

Tackled 10 metres short of the try line, he still managed to pop a pass to scrum-half Duncan Drewett, who finished off.

Marine held a slender two-point advantage as the teams turned around, but Marine overhauled that as captain Mike Strong was bundled over for a score by the timely arrival of Drewett and winger Duncan Milnes.

No 8 Simon Strong, who had an excellent game, set up the next try when he gathered the ball from the back of a scrum and stampeded up the blindside.

Having drawn his man, he flicked the ball to Drewett, who repeated the procedure to release winger Ollie Bown for a touchdown in the corner.

Marine responded with another close-range try, but the conversion hit the post and Minety wrapped things up when flyhalf James Stokes drew the cover with a diagonal run and Milnes powered his way through.

Stokes' successful conversion kick made it six wins in a row for Minety.
