SWINDON had one of their best days on the road in Southern Counties North as they ground out a 13-0 win at Bicester.
The visitors certainly did it the hard way against the fourth-placed side, choosing to play against the elements in the first half.
Bicester made the early running, but Swindon's defence stood firm and there was no score at half-time.
Swindon needed a good start in the second half and came out in a determined mood.
After a shaky start they took control after surviving a penalty attempt from the home side.
Swindon's first shot at goal was only a metre inside the opposition's half but, reading the wind perfectly, Nathan Waite cleared the crossbar to give his side the lead.
The visitors' defensive pressure created the next mistake.
From a lineout inside their own half, the back row trio of Andy Barnes, Andy Prowse and openside Paul Daniels put immense pressure on the Bicester scrum-half, causing him to throw a wild pass over the head of the fly half.
Swindon's fortune continued as a wild hack from the full-back missed the ball and Robin Haxton kicked through and Paul Wakefield touched down under the posts.
Nathan Waite added the conversion to give Swindon a 10-0 lead and added a further penalty to seal victory.
