Am I right in suggesting that the ludicrous High Court decision to give asylum seekers the right to sue for stress incurred over lengthy delays finding accommodation will open up the flood gates?
The Government's continual stalling in decision-making, especially on our doorsteps, will surely allow the majority of Lyneham residents, Armed Forces personnel and Wiltshire community to do the same. These local people have been be under the same duress over the decision on the future of RAF Lyneham.
In the current climate, and given the past role of the two air transport bases, the logical answer is to keep the base as is.
It does not take a rocket scientist or Whitehall minister to see the reason for having two bases is perfectly sound. Let us not be driven down the penny-pinching road that will see Lyneham off the map.
Let sense prevail. Prevent the High Court judges supporting unreasonable stress claims, otherwise the Lyneham community have the same rights to claim. More importantly, wake the ministers up and bring the Lyneham file to the top of the pile and keep it open.
