Cotswold Angling star Eamon Byrne landed a massive 65lb 8oz of bream to win the Isis AC traditional last-day match on the River Avon at Sutton Benger.

Eamon landed a total of 13 bream to 7-1-0 using straight ledger tactics and worm and caster on the hook.

He needed just one more big bream to beat Paul Young's club record of 72lb which has stood since 1989.

On the next peg upstream was Nigel Russell, who shared the same shoal as the winner, using the same method for second place with 35-5-0.

Jeff Lingford from Abingdon was third with 10-5-8 and was followed by Mick Fairey (9-7-0), Andy Pratton (7-14-0) and Steve James (6-15-0).

Section winners were Steve Jordan, Simon Pearce, Dave Bacon, Mick O'Brien, Steve Saunders, Darren Reynolds and James Stevens.

Churn Pool at Cerney Wick produced mainly small roach, trout and crayfish for Raychem AC's last match.

The one exception was on peg 16 where Tony Hubbard landed a monster 7lb14oz bream on a maggot feeder. Second was Barry Woods with 2-12-0 of roach and was followed by Ian Barker with 2-10-0, also of roach. Overall aggregate winner for the 2002/03 season was Neil Hitchinson and runner-up was Ian Barker.
