A RECOVERING drug addict who threatened to kill herself if left alone at Eastwood Park Prison was found hanging by her neck less than 24 hours after being put into a single cell.
An inquest heard it was 23-year-old Suzy Renicks' second attempt to end her life, the first occurred just two days earlier in a hospital toilet.
The inquest into the death of the Swindon mother of one, opened yesterday.
It was told that prison staff were alarmed by her mental state and ordered special measures to protect her against self-harm.
But the former heroin addict was able to hang herself and died in Frenchay Hospital four days later.
The incident happened on November 4, 2001. Three days earlier, Ms Renicks was arrested in Swindon for an assault and robbery. The inquest was expected to conclude today.
