A CHARITY gala is being held to raise money for three local charities chosen by the mayor, Stan Pajak.

The good causes are Age Concern Swindon, Threshold Housing Link and the Christ Church Skyline Appeal.

Cher Sawyer from Threshold Housing Link, which helps to resettle homeless people, said: "The gala is a brilliant idea. Not only will it raise money, but it will hopefully raise the profile of the charities."

Sunday's show at The Wyvern, which starts at 7.30pm, will feature songs from West End shows, including Joseph and West Side Story, and will bring together Swindon's talented youth.

The mayor said: "I am excited about showcasing the youth of Swindon and hopefully raising some money at the same time."

The groups appearing include the Kentwood Youth Choir, The Janet Thompson Concert Choirs and Youth Ensembles, Tanwood School of Performing Arts, Swindon Young Musicians and the Boyd Academy of Irish Dancing.

Tickets cost £10, or £20 including an after show party and a chance to meet the performers. Details are available on Swindon 463002.
