STRIKER Adie Mings has set himself a ten-goal target for the season after drawing another blank in the home defeat against Halesowen on Saturday.

The big striker missed a fourth minute chance to give the home side the lead and could only watch in vain as the Bluebirds were punished for some slack defending at the other end.

He has scored five goals in 23 starts this term, but is happy with his overall contribution to the team. He said: "I'm fit and doing myself justice. But, as anyone will tell you, you are judged on scoring goals. Although I create quite a few, it would be nice to get a few more myself . I'll try and get myself into double figures."

He admitted a combination of poor finishing and woeful defending had resulted in only the Bluebirds' fourth league defeat of the campaign on Saturday. He said: "We started the game quite well and had a couple of chances early on. With mine, I've tried to lob it back in, but miskicked it and it has gone wide.

"Then we've committed the cardinal sin just before half-time. Their first goal came out of nothing and the second was comical. The lad has held off Tom Gould and sidefooted it in.

"All of a sudden we were 2-0 down when they haven't really created a chance and we're chasing the game."

Mings added: "If you start conceding stupid goals at this level then you are going to struggle. If we'd taken two of the five chances we had then we'd have got something out of the game."

Mings is looking forward to putting the record straight when his side travel to Moor Green on Saturday. He said: "It is probably a bit easier for some of the lads away from home because they haven't got the pressure of trying to force the game.

"We normally seem to play a bit more freely and it is better, counter-attacking football, which is good for us."
