THE Malmesbury branch of the British Heart Foundation has been resurrected after a two-year lapse and is looking for committee members.
The branch had its first meeting at the end of January where District Councillor for Malmesbury Catherine Doody was voted as chair with Peter Lambert as honorary treasurer.
Coun Doody said the group was now looking for more members.
She said: "The aim of the branch will essentially be to raise funds although there are important other roles in raising public awareness of the Foundation and in promoting healthy life styles to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease."
According to the British Heart Foundation, heart and circulatory disease are Britain's biggest killers despite significant advances in treatment. Coun Doody said committee members or supporters would be asked to help at events and street collections.
The branch's first event is a street collection to be held in Malmesbury on June 17, at the end of Hear Week 2003.
Anyone who would like to get involved should call Coun Doody on (01666) 824731.
