CRICKETERS at Dauntsey's School are hoping bring a taste of the World Cup to Wiltshire when they stage their first-ever floodlit match on Tuesday 25 March.
Dauntsey's begin their season with a game against Prior Park College, Bath and will don a red kit. The visitors will play in blue and a white ball will be used.
The 20-overs-per-side game, which starts at 6pm, will take place on the all-weather surface at Dauntsey's, with indoor cricket mats used for the wicket itself.
The school's head of cricket Andy Palmer is looking forward to seeing his innovative idea come to fruition.
He said: "I'm pretty sure this sort of thing hasn't been done in Wiltshire before.
"It is a bit novel, but we want to promote cricket in the school, particularly for the older pupils for whom it is optional alongside tennis.
"They will have grown used to seeing this sort of thing on the television over the past few weeks. It will be good to give cricket a boost before the season begins.
"We are just hoping for some good weather and hope people will come along to have a look at it."
Admission is by scorecard and costs £1. All profits go to the school's week-long cricket trip to Malta next month.
