WOOTTON Bassett Town Council amenities committee has declined an invitation to help fund an indoor skate park which may be established by Calne Town Council at Porte Marsh Industrial Estate.
Due to the difficulties experienced at Devizes and Chippenham, where outdoor skateboarding posed major problems, Calne is considering whether an indoor facility could offer an acceptable alternative.
Funding such a project is a major hurdle, and it was hoped that Wootton Bassett, which is served by a bus route close to the proposed site, might be able to give some financial support.
But Wootton Bassett Town Council felt there were many pressing projects within the town and councillors said they were unable to help Calne.
"We should not be looking to subsidise the efforts of other town councils," said Coun Peter Doyle.
