FIRST Division Maud Heath Sports, who lifted the WG Parr Trophy in 1997 and 2000, are through to this year's final after a comfortable 3-0 semi-final win over North Bradley.

Jack Heard had the opportunity to put Bradley ahead but missed from the penalty spot before Dean Slade put the Sports in front on the stroke of half-time. Hit man Simon Hillier sealed their victory with two further goals in the second half.

Maud Heath Sports will not be taking anything for granted when the teams meet in the final as their previous appearance almost ended in humiliation at the hands of Corsham Park Rangers, the then Fourth Division side holding out for a long period before succumbing to two late Simon Hillier goals.

ALL Cannings A closed the gap on leaders Percy's FC at the top of the Vanitec Computers sponsored league to just two points following their 3-2 victory over fellow title hopefuls Malmesbury Victoria.

Cannings led 1-0 at the interval through a Steve Bush goal. Malmesbury hit back to lead 2-1, thanks to efforts from Alan Webb and Anthony Vizard. Tony Greenidge equalised for Cannings with Dean Potter hitting the winner in the final two minutes.

Hullavington Village are not to ruled out of the race for the title after extending their unbeaten run to seven games after a narrow 1-0 win away at Bradford News. Mike Hunt bagged the only goal early in the second half when he slotted home from 12 yards. The Newsmen thought they had earned a point late in the game but John Burt's header was ruled out.

Westbury Rangers A took seven reserves to Corsham FC and were more than happy with the point they claimed from their 3-3 draw.

Rangers found themselves trailing 2-0 after the first 45 minutes to goals from Adam Crook and Kev Brown, who scored with a brilliant header. Rangers responded in the second half to lead 3-2, thanks to a hat-trick from leading scorer Marc Lanfear, and substitute Malcolm King scored a rare header to tie the scores for Corsham. The same player had a goal disallowed in the final minute.

Pack Horse and Dog and Fox Ashley also shared the honours in a 2-2 stalemate. Pack Horse, who were playing their first match for a month, moved 2-0 in front courtesy of a double from Ian Williams, but youngsters Mark Gerrish and Rick Trott secured a vital point for Dog and Fox that should see them safe for another season in the top flight.

Box Rovers arrested a run of four straight league defeats, but only after a scare against bottom of the table Winsley, who clawed their way back to draw at 2-2 after trailing 2-0. In the end Rovers ran out 5-2 winners, with three goals in the final 15 minutes. Wayne Munday opened the scoring on 10 minutes for Rovers with James Lye doubling the score on 51 minutes. Goals from Mike Little and Robin Walker dragged Winsley level before Lye completed his hat-trick with two more goals and Richard Boore notched his first goal of the campaign to seal the win.

Division One

TERRY'S FC took full advantage of leaders West Lavington's inactivity to reduce the gap at the top of the table.

Their 6-2 defeat of Chippenham Police now means that they are just three points behind the front runners with two games in hand.

Terry's quick fire frontline were always too good for the Police's static defence, with Paul Clarke (3), Dominic Gorton, Dean Gumm and Russell Stritch, with his first goal of the season, completing the half dozen. Zack Newton and Dan Strong replied.

Seventeen-year-old Dave Appleyard was in impressive form for Westbridge United who moved out of the drop zone with a comfortable 6-0 win over a weakened George Lacock side, who were missing 11 players. Goals from Paul Daly (3), Paul Bendell, a youthful Tim Cross and a 20 yard effort from Gary Bowden made up the half dozen.

Division Two

VICTORIES for both Black Horse and Semington Rovers saw them demote previous pacesetters Biddestone Social Club down to third spot.

North Star A blew a two-goal advantage against Black Horse, who hit back to claim two important points with a 5-2 victory. Pete Thornton and Tom Ludford gave the Star a 2-0 lead at the break, but the Calne-based team fell apart in the second half, allowing the Horse to canter home. Darren Whiston (2), Chris Scollen, Tony Kerwick and Nathan King doing the damage.

Semington Rovers beat local rivals Spencer Sports. The quartet of players were impressive throughout but it was left to Stuart Barber to claim the winner midway through the second half.

A wonderful goal from Old Lane United's Paul Maddox and a 20 yard strike from Matt Saunders were not enough to save United from going down 5-2 at home to Farmhouse FC, whose goals came from Lee Hayward (3) and Neil Taylor (2). Farmhouse have now lost only once in their last nine games.

Division Three

HOLT FC are just two wins away from claiming back-to-back titles after their 6-1 victory over the youngsters of Rowde. Lee Morgan netted Rowde's consolation.

Corsham FC remain in the chase for automatic promotion, but they had to come from behind before claiming a point from their 3-3 draw with Blue Circle Saints, who led 3-0 thanks to goals from Steve Martin (2) and Dean Wheeler. John Horne's penalty reduced the deficit for Corsham but it was the introduction of player-manager Pete Ralph that turned the game as the old timer's input seemed to spur his side on, with Luke Denham and Matthew Lye scoring to see Corsham to a vital point.

Hare and Hounds trailed three times against Somerford but hit back to secure a 5-3 win to ease their relegation worries. Richard Chandler, Chris Yeo and Jamie Sarquharson had put Somerford ahead on three occasions only for Lee Nott, Tim Wootton and Niall McClean to bring the score back level. Matthew Benson put the Hounds in front for the first time in the game with McClean adding the fifth goal.

Cooper-Avon picked up a much needed point against Corsham Park Rangers as they look to perform miracles and move clear of the relegation trap door. Tom Coombs broke the deadlock in the 11th minute for the Avon boys who went in at half-time trailing 2-1 after Kelvin Stewart hit the net with two goals in four minutes just before the break. Coombs earned Cooper a 2-2 draw with a 67th minute equaliser.

Roadrunners FC and Sir Audley's Arms were involved in a seven goal thriller that saw Roadrunners triumph 4-3.

A penalty and a 40-yard thunderbolt from Steve Ivin, plus efforts from Mike Eddy and Andy Fryer made up Roadrunners' quartet, with Steve Mallard (penalty), Kieron Smith and Adie White, who also had an effort ruled out, sharing the losers' goals.

Division Four

TROWBRIDGE Town Supporters' Club were the highest scorers of the day.

Their 7-2 victory over Classic FC moved them up to second spot behind Four Seasons who were in cup action.

Steve Munday took his goal tally for the season to 32, with five of the goals, which included a penalty, and Chris Rawlins, and Chris Darlin added the other two. Dayle Townsend (penalty) and Adam Scarlett replied for Classic.

One time leaders White Horse FC have seen the wheels fall off their promotion bandwagon as they suffered a third loss on the trot which was their seventh defeat in 10 games.

A 2-1 defeat by Old Road Tavern brought an end to Tavern's own abysmal run that had seen them lose eight consecutive games. With all the goals coming in the final six minutes, it was Tavern who drew first blood when Pete Smith scored on 84 minutes. Two minutes later Rob Dark put through his own net to tie the score, but Tavern sealed victory in the final minute thanks to Martin Woolford.

Lee Saunders took just 30 seconds to open the scoring for All Cannings B against Parsons Nose and from then on Cannings were always in the ascendancy as they ran out 4-2 winners.

Sam Patton (penalty), James Webb and Richard Holman added Cannings' other goals, with Ricky Noonan scoring both for the Parsons Nose.
