RUSSELL Lodge and Rob Humphries were on target as Corsham rocked title-chasing Exmouth at The Southbank on Saturday 15 March.
The top of the table visitors were unbeaten on their travels at the start of play, but Corsham withstood plenty of pressure to register a vital win in their fight for Screwfix Direct League survival.
Join-manager Dave King was delighted with his troops after they sprung the division's surprise result of the day. He said: "The result speaks for itself. I can't speak highly enough of the performance. Robbie Humphries and Frank Coleman worked their socks off up front and Russell Lodge was tremendous at the back.
"We were under a lot of pressure after going 1-0 up. Our ball retention didn't make it easy for us, but we didn't make any elementary mistakes and the two goals were enough to win us the game."
Corsham took a 33rd minute lead when Lodge's free kick was deflected past the despairing reach of Exmouth goalkeeper Simon Harris.
The hosts worked hard to contain the league leaders as they pushed for an equaliser after the interval, and doubled their advantage midway through the second half.
Frankie Coleman's pass found strike partner Rob Humphries in acres of space and the makeshift frontman finished coolly.
Exmouth were rewarded for their pressure 13 minutes from time when Tom Gardner scored.
King praised his side's fighting spirit. He said: "We were solid and it was ugly at times. We defended deep and conceded a lot of ground, but they couldn't break us down."
