HELLENIC LEAGUE: PAUL Day was in fine form for Highworth Town, bagging a hat-trick in his side's 6-0 away win over Pegasus Juniors.
The three points was just the tonic needed for the away side after a disappointing midweek defeat by Yate Town.
Highworth, without several of their regulars through injury, looked the better side in the opening exchanges and Day gave them the lead after 20 minutes, beating the offside trap to run through and score.
Ten minutes before the break they added a second when Justin Miller scored a fantastic free-kick.
The visitors continued on top and a mix-up between defender Darren Braithwaite and keeper Morgan on 66 minutes let in Miller for a close-range tap in.
Five minutes later Day scored again before Mark Belcher added a fifth. Day completed the scoring and chalked up his hat-trick following a good cross from Miller.
Fairford Town ground out a 1-0 win over Almondsbury at Cinder Lane to move them up to fifth place in the table.
Fairford's winner came midway through the second-half through Richard Watkins following good work by Jamie Webb.
Wootton Bassett had a bad day at Southall, losing 5-1 and having Stuart Hemsley sent off in the second half.
The visitors got off to a nightmare start when Gary Ashford pulled a muscle in the pre-match warm-up.
Then they lost Dave Jones , who was carried off after just a few minutes with an ankle injury.
Bassett were two goals down after the first 20 minutes and fell further behind after the break as Southall stretched their lead to 4-0.
Stuart Lamont pulled a goal back for Bassett before the home side added a fifth and final goal.
In Division One West, Purton were beaten 2-1 at Chipping Norton.
Purton conceded a sloppy goal on 36 minutes when keeper Luke Alford and defender Chris Lang got into a tangle and Gary Wright was on hand to take advantage of the mix-up.
Mark Odom then netted a second for the home side before Purton pulled a goal back from Lee Curtis.
New College Academy gained a 2-0 away victory over Adderbury Park.
Steve Dixey scored in the first-half and Chris Flannigan after the break. Acadamy boss Pete Horwat was delighted with the result and said: "It was our best performance since the Slimbridge game. The lads played well."

Neil Sutton scored from the penalty spot with James Garbutt adding a second. An own goal completed victory for Shrivenham although they had John Peters sent off late on.
