A CIVIL servant from Netheravon has been awarded an MBE in recognition of his deployment to Afghanistan.
Mark Furnival (38), who went to school in Durrington, works at the operational headquarters of the ministry of defence in Northwood, where he has worked for three years.
During that time, he has been deployed in Sierra Leone, Macedonia, Afghanistan and Kuwait.
He received his award, part of the operational awards list published in October, from Prince Charles, who was standing in for the Queen after her knee operation last month.
