BURGLAR Nigel Stickley snatched a gold necklace from beside a sleeping girl, Salisbury Crown Court heard on Friday.
The 20 year-old was discovered after his fingerprints were found by police.
Stickley, of Eastleigh Road, Devizes, admitted the theft of the necklace, worth £150, last July.
Mark Ruffell, prosecuting, said he reached in through a window and grabbed the piece of jewellery at the side of a 15-year-old girl.
He at first denied the offence and could give no explanation for the discovery of his fingerprints.
Stickley, defended by Matthew Scott, had his case adjourned for reports to April 4.
He was granted bail, with a condition he report to police each Monday, and is due to appear in court again, for sentence, at Winchester.
