A MAN found with 44,000 pornographic images of children on his computer is facing jail.
Ian Yeowell, 29, from Wroughton, accumulated the images, which were stored on two computers as well as CD Rom discs.
He also allowed some of the pictures to be accessed by others over the internet from his Maunsell Way Home.
But now he faces prison after Swindon Magistrates Court sent the case to the Crown Court for sentencing because sentencing guidelines meant he could face three years behind bars, a term beyond the powers of magistrates to impose.
Prosecutor Simon Brenchley said the Metropolitan Police received information last autumn that child pornography was being exchanged over a network called Kazaa.
After contacting NTL to find out the identity of people who had certain user names they discovered Yeowell's involvement and obtained a warrant to raid his house. He admitted his guilt.
Yeowell, pleaded guilty to six counts of making indecent images and six of possessing indecent photographs with a view to distribute.
He was given conditional bailed pending sentence.
