A TOWN mayor is to shave his head and pack shopping bags to raise money for charity.
Wootton Bassett mayor Peter Roberts has a packed day of fundraising planned on Saturday, April 12, to raise money for Burton Hill School, which caters for children with special educational needs.
He will start the day from 10am to noon by packing shopping at the Iceland supermarket.
Then, at 12.15pm he is to have his legs shaved in the window of the shop.
Finally, at 1.15pm he is planning to have his head shaved at Barton's Hair Salon.
He said: "My mayoral year is drawing to a close and my aim is not only to raise lots of money but to raise awareness of the wonderful work that is carried out at Burton Hill School.
"I have recently been quoted as the game for a laugh mayor, which is fair comment, and as well as having fun I shall have some unforgettable memories."
Anybody wishing to back the mayor is asked to call Wendy Marchment at Wootton Bassett town council on Swindon 850222.
