I welcome the news that Asda Wal-Mart is doing something to help disabled drivers by having an eight-person baywatch patrol.

However a better idea would be to fence around the disabled bays and have a barrier controlled entrance/exit with one person controlling it.

Produce your blue/orange badge and you will be admitted, no badge, equals no parking.

Photos on badges can be checked by the attendant before admittance, that would stop able-bodied people borrowing badges for fraudulent use.

I also recall that Tesco made a big play on the disabled issue early last year by proclaiming that all the disabled parking bays would be painted vivid colours so that able-bodied drivers would have no excuse if they parked there.

However as yet this has not happened will it ever I wonder?.

What they have done is employ an attendant from Euro Car Parks who checks if a car is displaying a badge, if they are not a Customer Information ticket is issued what use is that?

People issued with these tickets just ignore them just as they do with all the other signs relating to the disabled bays.

All illegally parked cars should be clamped or removed.
