DORSET AND WILTS TWO NORTH: AN outstanding performance from Supermarine was not enough to stop a resilient Minety completing their clean sweep of 12 wins in 12 games in the league this season.

Despite having gone behind in the first period, Minety came back strongly after the interval, scoring when it mattered and penning their hosts back in their own half for the last 30 minutes of the game.

Fired up and ready for action, Supermarine got off to a stunning start. A clearance kick from their own 22 failed to find touch on the right-hand side of the pitch but equally found Minety unable to field an awkwardly bouncing ball.

Instead, the Supermarine forwards claimed it for their own and lost no time in feeding it out to their waiting backs. Good support work kept the ball alive on the left wing and Tim Gallimore was on hand to make the final dash for a brilliant try in the corner.

The visitors' riposte was swift and equally inspired, fly half James Tweedale creating a gap for himself by dummying his opposite number, and stepped inside his man before charging over the line for a try he converted himself.

Supermarine then dominated and Gallimore's penalty put them a point in front at the interval.

Minety began to exert a grip on the game after the break and Ian Neal bundled through his marker's challenge to score their second try after latching onto a pass from scrum half Andy Brown.

Tweedale failed with the conversion, but was on hand to kick a penalty goal and extend his team's lead to seven points and complete the scoring.

Minety captain Charlie Gawthropp said: "It was a tough game against good opposition but we came through in the end. All in all, it was a great way to finish off the campaign.

"When we were demoted at the end of last season, we swore that we would win every league game this year, and that's exactly what we've done."
