THE Nestle factory in Staverton has scooped one of the company's top awards thanks to its pro-active role in supporting the community.
A donation of £7,700 to the local community last year helped the factory win Nestle's Chairman's Trophy Award for community support in 2002.
Andrew Vick, factory manager at the Staverton site, said: "We are very pleased for all the factory employees who are involved and we would like to say a big well done to all of them."
The factory, which manufactures Nestle's chilled deserts and mousses, not only offered support in financial and product donations, but also in personal time with a dozen staff actively involved.
Staverton's commitment to the community also helped Nestle UK to win the Silver Award at this year's Food and Drink Federation Community Partnership Awards.
Mr Vick said: "The Nestle factory has been part of the local
community for more than a hundred years.
"We are delighted this link continues to be recognised by Nestle UK and the FDF with the awards for the company's community work."
