SUPERMARKET shelves were emptied on Wednesday night as workers stripped away products in readiness for the final touches of a £9m rebuilding scheme.
Sainsbury's in Chippenham has closed its doors for eight days while the new store, which will include a larger range of products, a new clothing department and a Comfy Caf, is finished.
Working in colour coded teams more than 250 staff systematically packed shelf contents into containers on Wednesday before they were taken out of the store into storage areas and freezer units. The store, which reopens on March 27, will have doubled in sized with the creation of 140 jobs.
