TOWN councillors in Melksham want to meet up with developer Charlie Tull to talk through plans for the former GEC factory site.
Box-based developer Mr Tull has resubmitted plans to turn the former factory in Beanacre Road into a residential estate.
Town councillors at a meeting at Melksham Town Hall on Monday welcomed the plans but said they wanted to ensure affordable housing was included within the scheme.
Plans for 67 apartments and 59 terraced houses have been submitted to planners at West Wiltshire District Council.
Cllr Sarah Cardy said: "Our only concern is that there must be enough affordable housing.
"If we are going to develop the site we have to make sure it is a plan that suits the town, not just because it has been empty for years."
Cllr Cardy said town councillors wanted to meet up with Mr Tull and district council planners to talk through the latest proposals.
