PUPILS in Melksham will have a safer walk to school thanks to £16,000 worth of road safety improvements.
Wiltshire County Council will spend money to provide pedestrian facilities outside Shaw School.
County council officers will start-up talks with the parish council and the school to improve the footpath leading to the school and install crossing facilities.
MP Andrew Murrison visited the school before the half-term break to talk about the traffic dangers.
"I am pleased that the county council has taken action to improve road safety in Shaw.
"The crossing and the narrow pavement opposite the school were among the points raised by children during my recent visit."
