Hardly a week goes by without another barmy example of political correctness being imposed by our town halls.
The news that schools across Britain have been ordered by local authorities to abandon the tradition of serving hot cross buns at Easter, to avoid offending children of non-Christian faiths, is ridiculous!
Liberal Democrat-controlled Liverpool council has said that the symbol of the cross has "the potential to offend" and therefore buns will no longer be served to children in schools.
Wolverhampton and Wakefield councils, both Labour controlled, are also refusing to consider putting hot cross buns on the menu.
This is, frankly, appalling and absurd. Why are we so frightened of celebrating our Christian tradition? What can be more innocent than a hot cross bun? Eating a hot cross bun does not automatically make you a born again Christian!
Far from being offended, the Muslim Council of Britain called the decision "absolutely amazing" and "very, very bizarre".
Will our politically correct councils ban Easter eggs next?!
