OVER the last few weeks there have been a lot of letters about the waste ground of the old Ushers site. What this county town of Wiltshire needs is not more shops but a much bigger hospital, the same size as Bath or as near to it.

Trowbridge is growing very fast. With new houses this means a lot more people to deal with. The RUH is well over stretched trying to cover such a big area and the more we build the more pressure is put on Bath. We all pay our taxes and a lot of our money is wasted like collecting up rubbish that is dropped by lazy people in our town.

This money could go towards a better hospital for our town. People would be much happier to have day surgery or teeth pulled in a Trowbridge hospital instead of having these things done in Bath, then having to travel 10 miles or more to get home, and when you're not well you don't want to travel. If we had a better A and E then the ambulance would not be tied up with a long journey to Bath and this would free up more ambulances for the public.

If more people wrote letters to the Wiltshire Times in favour of a new hospital we might get one. I've done what I can with this letter. Let's see your letters on this subject in next week's paper.
