Those of your readers who are farmers or landowners may be interested to know that CPRE in Wiltshire is reviving the Hedgerow Award Scheme which has not taken place since the foot-and-mouth epidemic in 2001.
The Awards aim to encourage farmers and landowners to plant and maintain good hedgerows, which are not only an essential part of our English landscape, but provide good, sustainable, field boundaries and a habitat for a diversity of wildlife.
We are also looking for some sponsorship from a local company so that awards could be accompanied by small cash prizes to buy further trees and plants to maintain the hedges for the future.
Any prospective entrants or interested companies please contact me on (01225) 768705 for further details.
Entries must be in by the end of the month.

Chairman West Wilts Group,
Council for Protection of Rural England, Southwick Road,
