IN response to C O Lister (Letters, March 11) regarding the use of the cycle track which was built against a lot of opposition across The Lawns, I can confirm that the number of cyclists using the track daily can almost be counted on the fingers of two hands, including the postman.

As before, cyclists cross The Lawns but continue to use the routes that they always did and to which no-one that I know of objected. It is, however, much used by the pizza delivery motorcyclists, the odd car (now that the central posts have been removed) and skateboarders.

Both Conservative councillors for Lawn objected to the scheme on the grounds that it was an unnecessary blot on The Lawns landscape but sadly Wendy Johnson (our Lib Dem councillor) was "comfortable with her decision" when she voted in favour. When you live well away it's easy to be comfortable.
