RAILWAY memorabilia including a Chippenham platform sign, comes under the auctioneer's hammer this weekend when collectible items from the area are due to be sold.
Auctioneer Alan Aldridge is holding a collectors' auction at his Bath Road Business centre sale room at Devizes and he is expecting lots of interest in a series of railway items.
He said: "We have a Chippenham Station sign and several items from the Great Western Railway era within the nine lots for sale.
"There is a collection of railway items varying in size. Some items such as engine and wagon plates are relatively small and then there are the large Lavington station sign and several signals
He said: "We even have a Highways Act plate and railway lamps that could date back to GWR days and a semaphore signal complete with the supporting pole
"Locally there are a lot of people who collect railway memorabilia and we expect a lot of interest in this sale."
The collectors sale can be viewed at the Aldridge sale room tonight from 5pm to 8pm with the sale on Saturday from 8.30am.
