CELEBRITIES are coming to Swindon to celebrate 30 years of clubbing at the Brunel Rooms.
Among them are model Jordan who will be interviewed by BBC breakfast show presenter Sandy Martin, who was resident DJ at the nightclub for 12 years during its heyday in the 1970s and 1980s.
And in preparation for the Brunel Room's birthday next Saturday, Sandy Martin will take to the decks tonight.
Mr Martin said: "I may be a bit rusty but it's a bit like riding a bicycle you never forget. The Brunel Rooms is one of the UK's most successful clubs and 30 years in the business calls for one big party."
Bringing music to 1,400-strong capacity crowds between 1979 and 1991, Mr Martin rubbed shoulders with scores of celebrities.
Pop duo Mel and Kim, TV presenter Philip Schofield and Eastenders star Sid Owen all shared his microphone on the Brunel stage.
"They were the glory years and I have very fond memories of the place. As for meeting Jordan next week, I'm a happily married man," Mr Martin added.
Garage artist Jamieson, featuring soloist Angel Blu, will join the festivities, beginning on Thursday with a huge foam party. Radio One DJ Tim Westwood is booked in for Friday, along with Lisa Maffia and Romeo, former members of hit urban R&B band So Solid Crew.
Bill Reid first opened the Brunel Rooms in 1973 on March 29.
His parents even re-mortgaged their house so he could buy the venue, located above the Brunel shopping centre.
Still run by the same family, Mr Reid's son, Stephen now takes charge of the family enterprise.
He said: "The gamble paid off and we remain a thriving institution. Almost everyone under 60 in the town has been here and we are part of Swindon's social fabric."
Built on a railway theme, the nightclub still boasts its famous cog-shaped revolving bar. And revellers can take a break from the dance floor, which holds 1,000 people, in special railway carriages.
Top performers have included Blondie, Showaddywaddy, Talking Heads, The Rubettes and Elvis Costello.
But the Brunel Rooms still has the ability to attract big names today.
Hit music makers Sophie Ellis Bextor, Ms Dynamite, Mis-teeq, Brian McFadden of Westlife and Atomic Kitten have all appeared over the past two years.
Mr Reid said: "Thirty years under the same ownership is unheard of in this industry. We have changed with the times and hope many more years of making fun in Swindon lie ahead."
