BATH hero Steve Ojomoh has urged the club's fans to turn out in force to make next Friday's testimonial match for former teammate John Mallett a "real celebration of Bath rugby".
Back rower Ojomoh is one of a galaxy of stars turning out for a Lloyds TSB-sponsored Past v Present clash (7.15pm), in honour of stalwart prop Mallett, nicknamed Shep, who yesterday announced he is leaving Bath at the end of this season.
Darren Crompton, Graham Dawe, Kevin Yates, Martin Haag, John Hall, Andy Nicol, John Palmer, Simon Geoghegan, Damien Cronyn, David Hilton, Jon Sleightholme and Stuart Barnes are just some of the other famous names due play in honour of the former Evening Advertiser columnist, who will leave Bath to take up a director of rugby post at Brighton College at the end of the season.
And 13-times capped England man Ojomoh now playing for Welsh side Newport said: "It's a celebration of Bath Rugby Club that's the way I'm looking at it.
"It's a chance for players to show what Bath rugby is all about, with the history and all that goes with it.
"It's a great night for the supporters because I think, in many ways, they haven't had the chance to thank some of the legends of the past. They will all be there."
On Mallett, he added: "He's still here and still first-choice and I have a lot of respect for him. He has done a lot for the club and deserves to have this game."
"With some of the characters that will be involved, you can be sure it will be competitive, but we will all enjoy it, I'm sure."
Ticket prices for the match start at £8 for adults and £5 for children and are available at the Bath ticket office (01225 460588).
