SAM PARKIN insists he is happy to talk about extending his current deal and hopes the close season will see the club backing manager Andy King's recruitment drive.

The 22-year-old crashed in a hat-trick, his second of the season, as Town trounced Notts County 5-0 at the County Ground.

It took his tally for the season to 24 and further highlighted just what a bargain he has proved to be.

He said: "I'd be happy to talk about it. I was very fortunate that Swindon came in to offer me a two-year contract in the summer and I've been very impressed.

"I think the manager has said that the club need to prove to me that it's going places.

"I'm ambitious and I want to know that next year we'll have a decent squad.

"If we're going to be successful I'd love to stay here and have many good seasons."

Despite currently sitting mid-table in Division Two, Parkin is adamant that the club is still seen positively by players at a higher level.

He said: "Junior Lewis has come from Leicester and feels Swindon is still a big club with a good reputation.

"We haven't got the money of a Wigan but I think we can still attract a few 'names' here."

Town boss Andy King is delighted with the contribution made by a player plucked from Chelsea for just £50,000.

Bu he said: "Sam Parkin's got a hat-trick which is a nightmare for me. It makes everyone aware of him."

While Parkin's services are contractually secure for another year, King said decisions on other players would become clear in the next two weeks.

He said: "I will speak to the powers that be about the situation.

"There are only seven games left, so decisions have to be imminent."

Among those players with uncertain futures are Eric Sabin, Danny Invincible and Steve Robinson.
