THE HIGH Sheriff of Wiltshire Sir Christopher Benson said his farewells at a reception in the Steam museum.
Sir Christopher steps down from his role at the end of this month after a year as the Queen's representative in the county.
The office of High Sheriff goes back 1,000 year and nowadays mostly involves providing support for those involved in law and order.
Friday night's reception included representatives from local government as well as the police and other emergency services.
