SWINDON'S first Biodiversity Action Plan Conference will be held in May.
The town's biodiversity has, according to organisers, been responsible for the continuing prosperity of the area, with workers attracted by both the opportunities available and the quality of life that Swindon can offer.
The continuing development of the town could threaten this biodiversity heritage, depriving Swindon of an important asset.
By planning now, organisers hope that guidance and positive actions will allow the town to retain its natural heritage.
The Action Plan will link with other national and regional programmes to demonstrate how wildlife can be protected maintained and enhanced.
South Swindon MP, Julia Drown will address the conference. She will speak about the importance of biodiversity and quality of life and detail why Swindon is so special.
For more information about the conference call Neil Pullen, Swindon Wildlife Officer on Swindon 526228.
