Volunteers took to the Ridgeway in a bid to improve the area for walkers.
Armed with spades and saws, 25 people met on the Ridgeway at Bishopstone, near Swindon, for Green Lane Clearance Day over the weekend.
The event, which takes place twice a year, involves clearing back undergrowth and picking up litter from the area.
Three of the volunteers who took part were members of the Swindon and District Motorcycle club, including Peter Flynn.
Mr Flynn, 36, from Freshbrook, said: "People often accuse motorcyclists of spoiling the Ridgeway, but lack of maintenance is often the real problem. So we gave up our time to improve the land for pedestrians and horse riders."
Besides cutting back overhanging trees on a three-mile stretch of path, volunteers also laid grass seed and collected debris.
"I was very pleased with the turnout and it was nice to work in the sun for a change. We plan to return soon and pick up more rubbish," he added.
Julian Poulter, 40, travelled from High Wycombe to help out.
He said: "The Ridgeway stretches a long way but it was well worth coming. The weather was lovely and we made good progress on the paths. I look forward to returning and seeing how the grass has grown."
