NO doubt R W Selway wears his Union Jack shorts with pride on the beaches of Spain each summer as he moans about the weather, the food and the foreign language, but he is wrong to suggest the majority of people in Swindon support his anti asylum views (EA March 17).
What we care about are the annual inflation busting rises in council tax that have never resulted in better public services and Ofsted failing schools.
Asylum really is a red herring designed to deflect attention away from those issues and when people choose to buy into anti asylum views it gives us an insight why only the middle classes benefit from the wealth generated by the world's fourth richest economy as they throw us a few scraps to bicker and squabble over and red herrings like asylum to blame for only receiving those scraps.
