LATE withdrawals and unavailability hit Chippenham 2nd and they paid the price as Devizes beat them 26-15 at Allington Field.

Coaches Tony Audis and John Rumble had headaches before the game as Jim Pratt withdrew and was replaced by Wes Newson at loosehead.

John Whiteman came in for Phil Coope and Andy Williamson came in for Paul Jenkins at fly-half.

Even Neil Loader, another senior coach was drafted in at centre.

Chippenham started well, scoring an early unconverted try by Whiteman and then added a penalty.

But Devizes were unlucky not to score before the break and rectified that after it.

They scored two tries, one converted, to take the lead and then added two more converted scores to go well ahead at 24-8.

Chippenham managed a late try from Andy Williamson, brilliantly converted by Dan Reynolds, but although Devizes' Colin Barros was sin-binned late in the second half, they held on.

DAVE Burrows scored a brace of tries as Chippenham 3rd won an entertaining friendly with Colerne 35-24.

Burrows opened the scoring after a good start from the visitors and James Cook rounded off another good passage of play by beating his man to score the second under the posts.

Chippenham continued to pile on the pressure and minutes later it was Ian Bannister who was put through.

Chippenham's forwards then got in on the act as Dave Williams broke the line to score.

As the teams turned around, Chippenham went off the boil and Colerne scored two tries.

Burrows responded with his second and Ceri Morris had an excellent game, converting all five tries.
